What working together looks like

We begin with what you want or need to do in everyday life. From there, we identify the abilities involved, explore anything that may be getting in the way and agree on a practical way forward.

Most home practice takes a few minutes, twice a day. Small and often wins. IJ

  1. Start with what matters to you

Tell me what you’d like to learn, improve, manage or do more independently.

  2. Choose the best pathway together

We look at the everyday occupation, the abilities it needs and any underlying foundations affecting progress. Foundation and Ability often work together.

  3. Make a practical plan

Assessment, direct skill-building, coaching, task adaptation, assistive technology, or a six-week program cycle with activities to practise at home.

  4. Practise, review and progress

Where regular practice is needed, activities are usually done twice daily and take only a few minutes. Appointment timing depends on your pathway, goals and progress.

Typical timing for each pathway

Foundation

Six-week program cycles, with a review appointment about every six weeks. This pathway often continues for 6 to 12 months as foundations develop and mature, and is often paired with the Ability pathway for the best results.

Ability

Generally weekly or fortnightly while directly building a skill, though this is flexible. As progress is made, sessions may be spaced out or aligned with Foundation reviews.

Occupation

Booked as needed and generally standalone: practical education, coaching or help with a particular activity, project or life skill.

A Coordinated OT practice book on a desk

Your program comes with a practice book, so you always know what to do between sessions.

Fees and funding

The fee is based on the length of the appointment, regardless of the pathway, goals or activities included.

Who I see

  • Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants
  • Medicare referrals for eligible clients
  • Clients using eligible private health insurance
  • Privately paying clients

Medicare

Eligible clients may receive a Medicare rebate when referred by their GP under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. Medicare generally covers part of the fee, so an out-of-pocket cost would apply.

Private health

OT rebates may be available through private health extras cover. Eligibility and rebate amounts vary between funds and policies, so please check with your insurer before your appointment.
